At about 2:14 PM on Thursday December 16, 2021, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Walter Gonzalez, 19, of Dorchester after responding to a call for a person with a gun inside a residence on Bower Street in Roxbury. On arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from multiple lacerations to his head and face who stated that the suspect had entered his home and struck him with what appeared to be a firearm. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

As responding officers began to canvass the area, they observed the suspect discard what was later determined to be a loaded 9mm Taurus handgun underneath a parked motor vehicle as he attempted to flee the area on foot on Walnut Avenue. The suspect was placed in custody following a brief foot pursuit at which time the officers were able to safely recover the discarded weapon.

The suspect, who has since been identified as Walter Gonzalez, will appear in Roxbury District Court on multiple charges including Home Invasion, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device.
