B-3 Officers Make Firearm Arrest During Traffic Stop Monday

At about 5:14 PM, on Monday February 14, 2022 officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) made an onsite firearm arrest of Darnell Harris, 35, of Dorchester, as a result of a traffic stop in the area of 39 Rockwell Street in Dorchester.

Officers were traveling inbound on Washington Street when they observed a motor vehicle that appeared to have an expired license plate. After a CJIS inquiry, it was revealed that the license plate was in fact suspended. Officers activated their lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop. Officers approached the driver, later identified as Darnell Harris, who was unable to provide a valid drivers license or vehicle registration.

Harris was safely removed from the motor vehicle and placed under arrest for Operating after Revocation/Suspension. During the search of the motor vehicle, officers recovered a loaded Glock 17 with seventeen rounds in the magazine.

Darnell Harris was additionally charged with: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
