Suspended Registration Leads to D-4 Gun Arrest Early Thursday Morning

At about 2:44 AM on Thursday, March 17, 2022, Officers assigned to District D4 (South End/ Back Bay) conducted a traffic stop in the area of Washington Street and Newcomb Street and made an on-site firearm arrest of Abdullahi Abdullahi, 25, of Jamacia Plain.

Officers were on directed patrol when they observed a vehicle idling and conducted a CJIS query on the vehicle, and found that the registration for the vehicle was revoked. Officers then observed the vehicle start to drive off at a high rate of speed.

Officers stopped at the above location and advised the operators that the vehicle would be towed due to not being actively registered. As officers had the occupants exit the vehicle, Officers made several observations of Abdullahi that caused them to believe he was in possession of a weapon. Officers conducted a pat-frisk and recovered a loaded firearm. Abdullahi Abdullahi was taken into custody without incident.

The firearm was found to be a Springfield XDS 45 ACP loaded with five rounds in the magazine and 1 round in the chamber.

Abdullahi Abdullahi is to be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.

Abdullahi Abdullahi is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
