Heroin Needles Litter Cass Boulevard After Woman Runs in to Oncoming Traffic

On Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at approximately 23:00 hours, Boston Police responded alongside Boston EMS to the area of Melnea Cass Boulevard for reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

The female, whom witnesses identified as a “resident” of Mass and Cass, was struck after reportedly running in to oncoming traffic. Witnesses on scene stated that she appeared severely impaired, and may have been under the influence of an unknown substance.

At the time she was struck, her belongings were sent flying, scattering items across the roadway. Police soon discovered personal effects on scene including multiple hypodermic needles, some of which were full of a substance appearing to be heroin.

The woman suffered serious injuries, however she is expected to survive. Given the evidence and witness statements, the driver was released after providing identification and being interviewed. The driver has not been cited in relation to this incident.
