Another Teen Shot in the Charlestown Bricks– This Time in a Brazen, Daylight, Playground Shoot-Out

At approximately 12:20 hours Sunday, April 10, Boston Police Officers Assigned to District A-15, A-1 and K-9 responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 53 Monument Street. As units responded, additional 911 calls began to flood Operations with witnesses saying they saw suspects fleeing from the shooting.

A few minutes later, Boston Police Operations received a 911 call that a person had been shot at 42 McNulty Court. The caller stated that his son, who was 15-years-old, had been shot in the leg.

Units from across the district converged on the area including patrolling SWAT Officers who were in the area “Gun Car”. The victim was located in the first floor apartment suffering from at least one gun shot wound and Officers immediately began to render aid.

While officers tended to the young man’s injuries, additional units responded to the area of 177 Polk Street where numerous witnesses as well as BRIC footage showed the 3 suspects running. After a brief search, officers decided to stop their efforts as they had crystal clear images from the BRIC cameras which provided them with the suspects identities. Sources close to the investigation tell us that their arrests are imminent and warrants will be secured in the upcoming days.

District A-1 Detectives did respond to the shooting scene which was eventually located at the O’Riley Way basket ball courts. Numerous spent shell casings could be seen and Detectives processed the scene, photographing and cataloging the ballistic evidence.

This is the second major shooting incident in less than a month in the almost identical area. In late March, another juvenile was shot in the chest. No arrests have been made in that incident either.

As of now, no further information is available, however police are asking anyone who could help them build their case against these shooters to reach out to District A-1 Detectives at 617-343-4248 or anonymously by calling the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1 (800) 494-TIPS or by texting the word ‘TIP’ to CRIME (27463). We will update further once the shooters have been taken into custody which sources tell us should be soon.
