Volatile Mental Health Crisis Peacefully Resolved by Boston D-4 Officers and SWAT

On Thursday April 7, 2022 at approximately 01:00 hours officers from District D-4 responded to 121 Clarendon Street for reports of a man refusing to leave the ATM vestibule.

A male appearing to be in emotional distress was located, but refused to communicate with officers. He also refused to exit the ATM area. Boston EMS staged nearby, awaiting reception of the man.

Officers were able to skillfully deescalate the unpredictable situation without physical intervention by talking to the man, and encouraging him to go to the hospital for treatment. The patient then willingly submitted himself to Boston EMS, and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.

No charges will be filed in relation to this incident.
