BPD Officers Shoot As Fleeing Car Runs Over One of Their Own in Chinatown Overnight

Overnight, shortly before 02:00 hours, Boston Police Officers assigned to District A-1 were alerted by Operations that a 911 caller had reported seeing three males in a vehicle, one of which in possession of a firearm. The officers in the area quickly located the vehicle given the vehicle description that was provided.

As Officers approached the suspect’s car both on foot and in vehicles, the car attempted to flee striking at least one of the Officers. At this time it is unclear on the full extent of the shootout, however, sources close to the incident tell us that at most only two officers discharged their weapons and thankfully no one was injured.

You can listen to the full audio transmissions from the incident above. Two officers were transported to a local area hospital, one suffering from serious injuries to his lower extremities and a second for evaluation.

Instead, hearing the discharge, the operator and passengers realized that their time was up and it was best to surrender. All three were taken into custody at gun point and transported back to the station on Sudbury Street for booking. They will be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court later this morning.

Boston Police Officers could be seen canvassing the scene and talking to witnesses. Detectives and the Firearm Discharge Investigative Team will continue their investigation in partnership with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. We will update when more information becomes available.
