Double Shooting Leaves One Dead on Walnut Park, Two in Custody

At about 22:58 hours, on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, officers assigned to District E-13 (Jamaica Plain), responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the area of 66 Walnut Park. While responding they were updated by Operations that a victim from the shooting may be on scene.

Upon arrival, officers located two adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds inside of a vehicle. Boston EMS transported one adult male victim to a local area hospital where he is in serious but stable condition. The second adult male subject was pronounced deceased on scene by Paramedics.

Following a brief foot pursuit, two subjects of interest were taken into custody by District B-2 (Roxbury) and YVSF (Gang Unit) Officers. At this time Boston Police will not confirm any further information. They have not been identified and more information will become available after arraignment tomorrow if they are charged by the morning. A firearm was also recovered on scene.

During a very brief press conference Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden told reporters and members of the public that had gathered to listen that this was just, “Yet another tragic loss of life in just a few short days” and that “the community should always be concerned when these things are happening”. DA Hayden did not elaborate on how his office and the Boston Police plan to address the recent rise in violent crime.
