At approximately 17:45 hours on Monday, April 18 2022, Boston Police Officers from District B-2 and D-4 as well as the MBTA Transit Police responded to a radio call for shots fired in the area of the MBTA’s Ruggles Station. Multiple units responded and upon arrival in the lower bus way officers located an adult male suffering from apparent gun shot wounds.
Boston EMS transported the victim to a local area hospital for serious but at this time non life threatening injuries. Shortly after the shots fired, Northeatern Police in the area located a suspect and engaged in a brief pursuit of the suspect however they were unsuccessful in capturing the assailant.
A search of the flight path did however locate a firearm which was processed by detectives. Boston Police determined the incident to have occurred on MBTA property and the case was turned over to them. Transit Police detectives are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.
