Officers Arrest Suspect in Possession of a Loaded Firearm in Roxbury

At about 12:46 AM, on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury), made an onsite firearm arrest of Willie Rutledge, 53, of Dorchester while in the area of Dacia Street and Wayland Street in Roxbury.

While on patrol, officers were responding to a Shot Spotter activation in the area of 11 Balfour Street. Officers observed the suspect, later identified as Rutledge, to be the only individual in the immediate vicinity of the incident.

After further investigation, officers recovered a loaded firearm from Rutledge. The firearm was determined to be a Smith & Wesson SD9 VE 9mm with one round in the chamber and twelve rounds in the magazine. A CJIS query revealed the firearm was reported stolen out of Birmingham, Alabama in July of 2021.

Willie Rutledge was arrested and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Large Capacity Firearm and Receiving Stolen Property. Willie Rutledge is expected to be arraigned Roxbury District Court.
