Two Heath Street “Gangsters” Arrested in Separate Attempted Murder Cases

At about 4:35PM on May 23, 2022, Officers assigned both the BPD/MSP Youth Violence Strike Force and members from the Transit Police Juvenile Unit in conjunction with Boston Housing Police made two onsite arrests of two male suspects inside of the dangerous Bromley Heath Projects in Jamaica Plain, on numerous charges including assault with intent to murder.

Officers placed a 15-year-old juvenile suspect into custody at his home on the Centre Street side of the projects, by virtue of a warrant issued out of Suffolk County Juvenile Court for charges of Delinquent to wit: Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Armed Assault to Murder, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, and Discharge of a firearm with 500 feet of a Building, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

These charges for him stem from a shooting that occurred on May 11, 2022, at approximately 6:51 PM in the area of 17 Smith Street in Roxbury. Additionally, a 17-year-old male that was already in custody on an unrelated probation violation is to be charged in this incident.

Separately, on the Heath Street side of the projects, 24-year-old, Jerry Matos was taken into custody at his residence at 9 Horan Way in relation to the April 18 shooting at the MBTA Ruggles station. TPD and Boston Gang Unit Officers safely took Matos into custody without incident and he was transported to Transit Police Headquarters for booking.

Transit Police Officers assigned to the Juvenile Unit had previously captured another involved party, a 15-year-old, back in the beginning of May. Matos is expected to face similar charges as that juvenile which could include assault with attempt to murder.

In tandem, Transit, Boston and Housing Officers executed two search warrants at the home of the 15-year-old juvenile and Matos. During the searches Officers recovered a Keltec .380 firearm with four (4) rounds loaded in the magazine, a black Sig Sauer BB Gun, a black Remington BB Gun, and a replica Boston Police Detective Badge.
