On the evening of June 1, 2022, two Green Line trains collided at Government Center Station resulting in 4 injured workers. The MBTA said a car with 20-25 passengers on board crashed into an empty two-car train entering the station.
Boston EMS responded to the crash and transported 4 patients to Massachusetts General Hospital with minor injuries.
Since the crash, Green Line services have been suspended between Park Street and North Station, resulting in delays in the busy station. The MBTA urges passengers to use Orange line for commutes downtown as well as the MTBA shuttle service.
This is not the first crash to tatter the Green Line’s reputation. Last year, two Green Line trolleys collided near Boston University’s Agganis Arena, resulting in 25 injured passengers.
The MBTA is currently investigating the cause of the collision and derailment.
