Officers Recover a Loaded Firearm after a Shot Spotter Activation in Roxbury

At about 4:49 PM, on Sunday, May 1, 2022, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury), made an on-site firearm arrest of Rickey Mims, 45, of Roxbury, while in the area of 83 West Cottage Street in Roxbury.

Officers were in the area of 143 Mt. Pleasant Avenue investigating a Shot Spotter Activation. Upon arrival, officers discovered ballistic damage to the window of a parked motor vehicle and recovered one shell casing.

After further investigation, officers located the suspect, later identified as Mims, as he was observed climbing over the fence of a nearby home. Officers recovered a firearm from Mims. The firearm was determined to be a Diamondback Firearm DB9 9mm with one round in the chamber and three rounds in the magazine.

Rickey Mims was arrested and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Firearm Violation with 3 Prior Violent/Drug Crimes and Trespassing.

Mr. Mims is additionally being charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (Firearm) and Discharge of a Firearm within 500ft of a Dwelling from the ShotSpotter Activation at 143 Mt. Pleasant Avenue. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
