Good Samaritan Chases Down Drunk Driver After Fatal Hit and Run on Storrow Drive

On June 4th, approximately at 1:15 am a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Storrow Drive. The Operator of the vehicle fled the scene and did not stop.

Massachusetts State Police from H Troop responded to the scene and located the victim, and began preforming CPR. Boston EMS arrived shortly after and it was determined that the victim had succumbed to their injuries on scene. The victim was later identified as 22 year old Brandon Jennings.

Due to the fatality, MSP Detectives, Crime Scene and CARS, the State Police’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, were called to the scene to investigate the death.

A motorist, who witnessed the deadly crash, continued driving behind the suspect’s vehicle, a 2007 grey Honda Accord, ultimately following it all the way to the driver’s apartment building at 65 Centre Street in Lynn.

State police confirmed that they located the Accord and the operator who has been identified as Miguel Rodriguez, 36. An MSP Sergeant administered a breath test on Rodriguez and he had a blood alcohol content of .119. The breath test was done over two hours after the initial crash.

Rodriguez is being charged with motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence of liquor, operating under the influence of liquor, and leaving the scene of a crash that resulted in injury.

Bail was set for Rodriguez, which he met and was released. He is now ordered to appear in the Boston Municipal Court-Central Division on Monday for arraignment.
