At about 6:17 PM on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, Officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest of Daniel Dotson, 27, of Dorchester, in the area of 2 Lattimore Court.

Officers were on directed patrol when they observed a vehicle idling with several individuals standing outside of the vehicle. Officers ran a CJIS query of the vehicle, and it was determined that the plates did not match the registration information returned in the CJIS query.
Officers exited their cruiser and, as they approached the vehicle, made several observations of the passenger that made them believe he was in possession of a weapon. Officers requested the passenger, identified as Daniel Dotson, exit the vehicle. Dotson exited the vehicle and as he was being pat-frisked, broke free from the officer and began to run from the traffic stop. Officers apprehended Dotson following a brief foot chase. Officers frisked the vehicle and recovered a loaded firearm.

The firearm was determined to be a 9mm with one (1) round in the chamber and no magazine inserted in the firearm. Dotson is to be charged with Unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm. Daniel Dotson is to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
