HSI and BPD warn fans of counterfeit goods and tickets during NBA Finals

With Game 3 between the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors for the upcoming NBA Finals to resume Wednesday night, BPD have urged fans to only buy tickets from authorized ticket agencies. This means avoiding secondary sources seeing as purchasing via other means creates the potential for possessing an invalid and/or counterfeit ticket.

Authorities from Homeland Security are also investigating along with the Boston Police Department, seeing as how in February, officials announced they seized nearly $100 million worth of counterfeit sports goods in the past year. HSI advises fans to buy all merchandise from NBA licensed stores and look for the NBA hologram which is on every licensed, official product, to avoid further raising this number.

The Boston Police department encourages community members that have any information about the selling of counterfeit tickets to contact Boston Police. Individuals wishing to provide information anonymously may do so by calling the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1-800-494-TIPS or texting the word ‘TIP’ to CRIME (27463).
