At about 1:04 AM on April 29, 2022, Officers assigned to District C11 on-sited a fight in the area of 266 Bowdoin Street and made an on-site firearm arrest of Raul Lopes, 28, of Dorchester.

Officers were on directed patrol in the area when they observed an animated individual, and a crowd began to form in the area of 266 Bowdoin Street. As Officers remained in the area, they made several observations that made them believe that a fight was about to occur. As Officers entered the parking lot adjacent to the above address, they observed a large crowd exit, with two individuals appearing as if they were about to fight. Officers attempted to separate the parties and then observed a male, later identified as Lopes, standing near a vehicle and attempting to conceal an object.

Officers were able to identify the object as a firearm and alert additional responding Officers to their observations without alerting Lopes. Lopes then discarded the firearm in a nearby vehicle, and officers were able to safely place Lopes into custody without incident and recover the loaded firearm. The firearm was determined to be a Taurus 9mm firearm with one (1) round in the chamber and eleven (11) rounds in the magazine.
Lopes is to be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device. Raul Lopes is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
