B-3 Officers Recover Two Guns and Arrest Two Men During Car Stop

At about 6:38 PM, on May 5, 2022, Officers were on directed patrol in the area of Bernard Street and Talbot Street when they observed a vehicle with two separate registration plates affixed to the vehicle. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of 14 Standish Street. 

Following on scene observations, Officers removed the four occupants of the vehicle one at a time. As officers removed one occupant, identified as 18-year-old Mekhi Young, he immediately turned away from officers. A pat-frisk of Young revealed a loaded firearm with an extended magazine, and took Young into custody without incident.

While officers were attempting to secure the other occupants of the vehicle, another occupant, 22-year-old Errol Gaskill, also attempted to turn away from officers. Officers conducted a pat-frisk of Gaskill and recovered a loaded firearm. Gaskill was taken into custody without further incident. The first firearm recovered was a P80 9MM with one (1) round in the chamber and fourteen (14) rounds in the chamber. The second firearm was Determined to be a 45-caliber revolver with five (5) rounds.

Young is to be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, and Unlawful possession of a Large Capacity feeding device. Gaskill is to be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a loaded firearm. Mekhi Young and Errol Gaskill are both expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
