At about 8:10pm on May 17, 2022 Officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a Person with a Gun at 8 Westville Terrace and made an onsite firearm arrest of Rene Rodriguez, 23, of Hyde Park.
Officers were dispatched to a call for a person with a gun in the area of the above. Officers were advised by operations that a group of males were seen in the area of 8 Westville Terrace displaying guns. Officers responded to the above location and observed one of the males, later identified as Rene Rodriguez, matching the description provided to 911.
Officers attempted to stop Rodriguez, but he fled on foot, clutching his waistband. Officers gave several commands for Rodriguez to stop but he refused to follow commands. Officers drew their department issued firearms and ordered Rodriguez to stop, at which time he stopped, and Officers observed a firearm fall from his person. Rodriguez was taken into custody without further incident.
The firearm was determined to be a FMK 9mm Firearm with one (1) round in the chamber and twelve (12) rounds in the magazine. A query of the firearm revealed the firearm was also reported stolen.
Rodriguez is to be charged with Unlawful Possession of a firearm, Unlawful possession of ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a loaded firearm, Possession of a large capacity feeding device, receiving stolen property, and Armed Career Criminal. Rodriguez also had several outstanding warrants. Rene Rodriguez is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
