On June 14th, Coffee with a Cop hosted an event in Hyde Park to build trust and improve relationships between citizens and officers, one cup of coffee at a time.
Coffee with a Cop was originally launched in California, where police were looking to interact with the community in a more personal way. Coffee with a Cop events are now held in all 50 states and is one of the most successful community oriented policing programs across the country.
Members of the Boston Police Department Command Staff along with officers assigned to District E-18 (Hyde Park) were on hand to meet and greet community members on the morning of the 14th on Truman Parkway, which was a great success.
Officers were able to bond more tightly with the community and create face-to-face personal relationships outside of the usual crisis situations that typically occur.
