BPD Recovers loaded firearm on Esmond Street after shots fired call

At around 22:40 hours, Boston Police Officers from District B-3 responded to the area of Esmond Street in Dorchester for reports of shots fired. When officers arrived on scene they noticed a group of eight male subjects in the area of where the alleged gunfire took place. Officers canvased the area and located a red bag, stashed next to a car a few feet from where the group had been located. Inside of the bag officers located a loaded firearm.

Detectives were called to the scene and took possession of the firearm for evidence. The firearm was determined to be a 9mm with one round in the chamber and ten rounds in the magazine.

The group of men were FIO’ed and released from the scene pending a further investigation. District Detectives will continue to investigate using witness statements and area surveillance footage to determine who was in possession of the illegal firearm.
