On June 25, 2022, a man was left hanging off the fence at the Boston Public Garden on Charles Street after he became impaled. District A-1 Officers and Boston EMS rushed to the scene after receiving the frantic911 call reporting the injury.
The sharp metal tips of the fences control pedestrian traffic and discourage people from scaling the fence. On-scene reports say that the man was severely injured after attempting to jump the fence with his friend.
When responders arrived on scene, a tourniquet was quickly applied to control the heavy bleed. The young man was then transported to Tufts Medical Center. Police stayed behind to document the large pool of blood left behind from the incident. The injury is reported as self-inflicted, and no charges are expected.
