Cars and Homes Shot Up on Back Side of Franklin Field Project Tuesday

Tuesday, July 5 2022, at approximately 01:30 hours, Boston Police Officers from District B-3 responded to the area of Stratton Street and Lyford Street in Dorchester for reports of at least 13 shots fired. This intersection is directly behind the Franklin Field Projects, also refereed to as the Westview Projects, which are notoriously prone to violence as well as gun and gang related crime.

When Officers arrived on scene they located signs of a large scale shootout. Officers immediately noticed a car that had been struck multiple times by gun fire. Additionally a 911 caller reported that their house had a bullet come through the window. Additionally officers located live and spent shells indicating the origin of the shooting.

Detectives from District B-3 quickly responded and as the scene was being secured, marking the numerous spent shell casings and other evidence with numbered cones. Investigators could also be seen photographing and collecting the evidence with cones numbered into the 20s.

At this time no arrests have been made and no further information is available. Detectives assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) are actively reviewing the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident and are urging anyone with information relative to this investigation to contact (617) 343-4248.
