2-Alarm Blaze in Cambridge Injures Firefighter And Civilian

Early this morning at 12:45 a.m., Cambridge Fire received a call for a building fire at 171 River Street in Cambridge, the blaze would eventually grow into a two alarm fire.

The Cambridge Fire Department responded to the call originally for a kitchen fire on the third floor of a three-story multifamily dwelling. When they arrived they found large flames emerging from the building, and quickly realized there was at least one occupant on the third floor. The department acted swiftly to rescue and saved the individual from the fire.

An occupant and firefighter were both injured in the fire, luckily, however, the wounds were minor and not life-threatening for both individuals. They were transported by Pro EMS to a local area hospital.

No further information is available at this time. The cause of the fire and extent of the damage have not been confirmed.
