At about 9:36 PM on Thursday July 7, 2022, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a call for a loud music complaint in the area of 541 Norfolk Avenue in Mattapan. On arrival, officers observed several individuals acting as ‘security’ while pat frisking individuals and providing ink hand stamps as they entered the backyard of the residence.
As the officers began to make contact with the homeowner, they simultaneously began to ask the gathered crowd to disperse. As this was happening, the officer’s attention was drawn to a 16-year-old male from Dorchester who appeared to be concealing an unknown object in his pants while he left the area on foot.
When the officers attempted to make contact with the male, he fled, discarding a large knife, later determined to be a machete sheathed a black nylon case. The suspect was detained following a brief foot pursuit and will be summonsed to appear in Dorchester Juvenile Court on a charge of Carrying a Dangerous Weapon.
