Holiday Recap: Bloody Long Weekend Leaves First Responders Exhausted

From Friday night until Tuesday morning, the Boston Area was plagued with a long weekend full of violent crime. With hundreds of rounds fired, at least 11 shooting scenes, and more than 14 victims injured, on the nation’s 246-year birthday. Additionally there were numerous unconfirmed 911 calls for shots fired, people with guns and other incidents that due to the high call volume and critically short staffing levels only allowed for limited investigations. Even with these challenges, 12 people were arrested for illegal firearm possession and 12 guns were taken off the street. Here is a breakdown of the chaos and madness starting on Friday afternoon and ending in the early hours of Tuesday. You can click the hyperlink in each title to read more on each incident.

00:45 Hours – SWATTING Incident in District B-3

Boston Police received a call for a person shot however, after a full SWAT response for a barricaded shooter, it was found to be a prank/false alarm. It is currently under investigation by Boston Police Detectives.


16:27 Hours – Person Shot in District B-3

Officers and Boston EMS responded to multiple 911 calls stating a man had been shot near the intersection of Radcliffe Street and Carmen Street. When Officers and EMTs arrived they discovered an injured person laying in the street with at least one bullet wound in the leg with possible additional injuries. Detectives are investigating and no further information is available.


16:27 Hours – Firearm Arrest in District B-3

Boston Police Officers arrest Olimpio Junior Pires-Braun, 22, of Dorchester on firearm related charges after he is found with a ghost gun as well as numerous outstanding charges. More information is pending a FOIA request.


21:25 Hours – Shots Fired in District B-2

Boston Police Officers responded to multiple 911 calls for shots fired in the area of Walnut Park in Roxbury. Officers on scene located a blood trail which led back into H-Block however no ballistics or other evidence was located. No victim was located either. Detectives are investigating the incident.

02:35 Hours- Person Person with a Gun in District B-2

Boston Police Officers responded to Brigham Circle near the Longwood Medical Area after receiving 911 calls reporting a male brandishing a firearm. When Officers arrived they located an adult male with a replica firearm. He was arrested and charged accordingly, further information has been requested from the Boston Police Department.


03:35 Hours- Shots Fired in District C-11

Officers responded to multiple 911 calls for shots fired in the area of Oakman Street and Walnut Street in the quite and beautiful area of Port Norfolk Dorchester. Officers recovered multiple spent shell casings on scene as well as evidence that a vehicle was also struck but fled the area. The vehicle would later be reported as damaged the next morning, interestingly enough the vehicle was registered in the same area of where a person was shot about ten to fifteen minutes later in Hyde Park. Detectives from Districts C-11 and E-18 are investigating the incident.


03:45 Hours- Person Shot in District E-18

A 14-year-old girl in Hyde Park was shot at around 3:45 in the morning. Luckily, the child is expected to survive as Police and EMS tended to her at the scene prior to transporting her to the hospital. The incident remains under investigation and no arrests have yet to be made. It is believed this incident is linked to the shots fired call in C-11 from about 10-15 prior.


05:25 Hours- Car Shot Up in District B-2

911 Caller stated his vehicle had been shot up, with heavy ballistic damage to the rear passenger and back of the SUV. Detectives responded and after speaking with the Owener learned that the damage had occurred at either the Dorchester or Hyde park related scenes. No further information is available at this time.


12:35 Hours- Stabbing in District D-4

Boston Police and EMS responded to 711 Boylston Street for reports of a person stabbed. On arrival Officers and EMTs find a person stabbed to the upper extremity. District Detectives were requested to the scene to investigate the incident further. No further information has been provided at this time.


15:10 Hours- Stabbing in District A-1

A man was stabbed multiple times on Boston Commons near 170 Tremont Street. On arrival police located an adult male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. Police arrested T-Jay Carter, 39, of Boston, shortly after the incident. Carter was arrested on assault charges with intent to murder, assault and battery by means of weapon, threats, and assault and battery on a police officer (3 counts).


22:30 Hours- Firearm Arrest in District B-3

Boston Police Officers arrest Ramon Maddery-Cameron, 30, of Mattapan, Ramone Wilson, 28, of Dorchester, and Samuel Jean, 34, of Dorchester on firearm and drug related charges after they were found to be in possession of a Glock 21 .45 caliber firearm with one round in the chamber and twelve rounds in the magazine. Additionally they were found to have a separate magazine with an additional twelve rounds of ammunition as well as multiple bags of Marijuana and drug paraphernalia. More information is pending a FOIA request.

02:25 Hours- Person Shot at Mass & Cass on State PD

Boston Police and State Troopers responded to Mass & Cass for multiple 911 calls for shots fired in the area. Numerous spent shell casings located, scene processed by Troopers. Victim self presented to Boston Medical Center. H-Troop Detectives investigating the incident. No further information at this time.


02:35 Hours- Shots Fired in District C-11

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the area of Norwell Street in Dorchester. Officers were informed by 911 callers that the shooting occurred at the intersection of Norwell Street and Wheatland Ave. Boston Police are actively investigating the facts surrounding this incident and no further information is available.


03:50 Hours- Possible Shots Fired in District A-1

Boston Police responded to the area of Essex Street and Washington Street in Chinatown for reports of shots fired. At this time the incident is unconfirmed and no further information is available. We have requested more information from Boston Police and are awaiting a response.


05:15 Hours- Stabbing in District B-2

Officers assigned to District B-2 responded to a radio call of a person being stabbed at the intersection of Monadnock St, Dorchester. A male found at the scene was transported with non-life-threatening injuries. A 13-year-old boy was charged with armed robbery, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery with injuries for the incident.

12:30 Hours- Shots Fired in District B-2

Officers responded to a 911 call for shots fired in the area of Sidechick, at 692 Columbia Road in Roxbury. Spend shell casings were located on scene as well what appeared to be a discarded scooter. Police canvased the area and local hospitals but did not find a victim. This incident remains under investigation by District Detectives.


15:15 Hours- Shots Fired in Cambridge

Cambridge Police responded to ShotSpotter activation in Central Square Saturday after shots were fired on Mass Ave in Cambridge . Luckily, there was no sign of a victim and police were able to see footage of the shooter on nearby surveillance which will help in the arrest of the individual. No arrests have been made but the search for the shooter is ongoing with his photo distributed publicly.


20:30 Hours- Gang Unit Makes Firearm Arrest

While officers were patrolling the area, they observed a motor vehicle operating at a high rate of speed. Officers conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and safely approached the occupants. After further investigation, officers recovered a loaded Sig Sauer 9MM Model P250 with one round in the chamber and three rounds in the magazine from the motor vehicle.


22:45 Hours- Teen Shot in District B-3

Boston Police Officers and Boston EMS responded to a call for a person shot at 50 Woodbole Ave in the Mattapan Bricks. At the scene officers found a 16 year old male suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. District detectives are investigating and no arrests have been made at this time.


23:00 Hours- Two People Shot in District B-2

Just around 15 minutes later, the Boston Police Department received another 911 call reporting a person shot at 18 Greenville Street. When officers arrived they found a man suffering from serious gunshot wounds, the victim was quickly transported to a local hospital and was last known to be in a serious but stable condition. Simultaneously at this scene, responding officers noticed a suspicious vehicle leaving the area and stopping around Saint James Street. The male driver was also suffering from gunshot wounds and was found with a loaded firearm. This individual is to remain in custody with firearm-related charges.


23:40 Hours- Person Stabbed in District B-2

Boston EMS and Boston Police responded to calls for a person stabbed inside of a residence at 26 Crispus Attucks Place in Roxbury. The 911 caller stated there was a family house party going on when some sort of altercation that left one person injured. No arrests have been made at this time.


Monday, July 4 2022

00:15 Hours- Four People Shot in District C-11

Boston Police Department and Transit Police responded to a report of multiple people being shot in the area of Washington Street and Bailey Street. On arrival, officers located three adult male victims that were suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, who were all quickly transported to a nearby hospital. Another victim of the same shooting eventually showed up at a nearby hospital on their own. Further information on the incident is currently unknown.


02:20 Hours- Person Shot in District B-3

A Boston Police officer responding to a ShotSpotter activation at 17 Elizabeth Street found an adult man suffering from serious life-threatening gun shot injuries. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital where he remains in critical condition. The Homicide Unit was called in to investigate. No arrests have been made at this time.


00:30 Hours- Person Shot in District D-4

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the area of 37 Monsignor Reynolds Way in the Cathedral Projects. At the scene officers located an adult male victim suffering from a graze wound. He was transported for treatment and is currently in a stable condition. Detectives are investigating the shooting.


00:25 Hours- Shots Fired in District B-2

Officers responded to 911 calls for shots fired in the area of Quincy Street and Blue Hill Ave. Officers responded and found a large party in the area however they were unable to find any ballistics. Detectives are investigating in conjunction with the shooting victim who walked into BMC about five minutes later.


01:35 Hours- Person Shot in District E-18

Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 195 Garfield Ave in Hyde Park. On arrival, officers located multiple spent shell casings as well as an elderly female victim with a graze wound. The incident is under investigation at this time.


01:35 Hours- Shots Fired in District B-3

Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Astoria Street in Mattapan. At this time it is unknown if any ballistics were recovered or arrests made. We have reached out to Boston Police for further information on this incident. Radio traffic indicated that a black male was seen fleeing the scene on a moped.


02:30 Hours- Walk in Shooting Victim at BMC

Boston Police Officers from District D-4 responded to Boston Medical Center after a man self presented to the Emergency Department with multiple gun shot wounds. The man had been shot approximately 4 times in the area of his genitals, however it is unknown if the actual organ was injured.


02:30 Hours- Person Stabbed in District C-6

Officers and EMTs aided a man who’s neck had been slashed on Methadone Mile. He was transported to BMC and is expected to survive. Boston Police are investigating this incident, at this time no arrests have been made.


20:05 Hours- Two Guns Recovered in District B-2

Youth Violence Strike Force arrests Anthony Tabb, 28, of Brockton, and Michael Stroud-Jamison, 34, of Boston, in the area of 214 Harvard Street on weapon and drug-related charges. As part of an ongoing investigation, Officers were able to determine that Anthony Tabb was in possession of a firearm and was in the area of 214 Harvard Street. Officers drove to the location and located Tabb walking with Michael Stroud-Jamison. Officers stopped both individuals and, upon conducting a pat-frisk, recovered a loaded firearm from the waistband of Tabb and recovered a second firearm from a fanny pack found in possession of Stroud-Jamison. Tabb and Stroud-Jamison were taken into custody without further incident.


20:05 Hours- Person Stabbed in District E-13

20:05 hours, stabbing at 3037 Washington Street in JP. Officers assigned to District E13 responded to a radio call for a person stabbed. When they arrived on the scene they located heavy amount of blood and a victim, transported to local hospitals, no arrests at this time.


20:10 Hours- Gun Arrest in District B-2

Officers were on directed patrol when they observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.  Officers conducted a traffic stop and, as they spoke with the occupants, made several observations that led them to believe a firearm was in the vehicle. Officers conducted a pat frisk of the vehicle and recovered a loaded firearm.  It was determined that Aicad Joseph would be charged for possession of the firearm.


20:20 Hours- Person Stabbed in District B-2

Officers and EMS responded to Washington Street and Cass Blvd for the reports of a person stabbed. EMS transported the victim to BMC and their condition is unknown at this time. Detectives are investigating the incident.


20:30 Hours- Two Shot at Club in Randolph

Another tragic shooting occurred outside of Mojitos country club in Randolph. Two men received gunshot wounds, with one sadly dying and the other being put into critical condition.


21:50 Hours- Shots Fired, Three Arrested in District B-3

Officers responded to multiple calls for shots fired around 111 Millet Street in Dorchester, Officers located ballistics on scene. Three males were seen fleeing and eventually were taken into custody. No further information is available at this time.


21:50 Hours- Gang Unit Arrests 13-Year-Old with Gun

While on directed patrol, Officers queried the plate of a vehicle, and it was determined that the registration information did not match the vehicle. Officers activated emergency lights and sirens in order to conduct a traffic stop, to which the operator, identified as the juvenile male, refused to stop and continued to drive at a slow rate of speed. Officers were eventually able to get the vehicle to stop. Officers removed the juvenile male and, as they conducted a pat frisk of his person, observed a firearm fall from his leg area to the ground.

00:50 Hours- Person Shot in District B-3

Boston Police Officers and Boston EMS responded to the area of Wilcock Street in Mattapan for reports of shots fired and possibly a person shot. When officers arrived on the scene they located a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was transported to a local area trauma center where his injuries are considered serious and he is listed in critical condition. The Homicide Unit was called in to investigate.


01:3o Hours- Shots Fired in District B-3

Officers responded to the area of Stratton Street and Lyford Street in Dorchester for reports of at least 13 shots fired. This intersection is directly behind the Franklin Field Projects, also refereed to as the Westview Projects, which are notoriously prone to violence as well as gun and gang related crime.


01:45 Hours- Gun Arrest in District B-2

While on directed patrol in the area of Columbia Road and Washington Street, Officers observed a vehicle traveling on Washington Street without its headlights and a query of CJIS additionally revealed that the vehicle registration was revoked.  Officers additionally made several observations of the passenger, later identified as Monique Phillip, that led them to believe she was in possession of a firearm.  Officers requested both Guerra and Phillip exit the vehicle and recovered a loaded firearm from the passenger side of the vehicle.  Both parties were placed into custody without incident.
