Massive Fire Rips Through Newton Home Overnight

Last night, Newton Fire received a call for a fire at 35 Gray Cliff Road in Newton. Upon arrival, they immediately transmitted a 2nd Alarm for heavy fire throughout the structure. Eventually the 3rd and 4th Alarm was subsequently called across the next hour as crews battled the blaze.

The occupants were not home and thought to be on vacation. Neighbors contacted the owners who were on the Cape. Even three hours later, fire fighters were still hitting hot spots throughout the rubble when the owners arrived on scene.

The fire started in the rear of the building and quickly consumed the structure. Fire fighters from Weston, Brookline, Waltman, Watertown, Needham, Wellesley, Boston, Cambridge, and Dedham came to assist at the scene.

It is unknown at this time what caused the fire that ultimately destroyed the 5000sqft home.
