Youth Violence Strike Force Arrest Male on Weapons Charges Following Traffic Stop

At about 11:55 A.M on June 15, 2022, Officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force conducted a traffic stop in the area of Freeport Street and Kimball Street, resulting in the recovery of an illegal firearm and marijuana and the arrest of Jhaysen Carrion-Grullon, 21, of Dorchester.

Officers were on directed patrol in the area of Adams Street and Bowdoin Street when they observed a vehicle with excessive window tint and traveling at a high rate of speed.

Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Freeport Street and Kimball Street and, upon approaching the vehicle, made several observations that there may be a weapon in the vehicle. Officers requested that Carrion-Grullon exit the vehicle. Upon conducting a pat-frisk of the vehicle, officers recovered a loaded firearm. Additionally, officers recovered marijuana from the vehicle.

The firearm was determined to be a Glock 22 with a high Capacity Feeding device loaded with twenty-one (21) rounds of ammunition. Additionally, the firearm was equipped with an aftermarket accessory that converted the firearm from semi-automatic firing to automatic.

Jhaysen Carrion-Grullon is to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of a loaded machine gun.
