Suspect in Custody After BPD Officers Recover Loaded Firearm While Responding to Call for a Person with a Gun in Dorchester

At about 3:38 PM on Sunday November 14, 2021, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Ronnie Powell, 36, of Roxbury on firearm related charges after responding to a call for a person with a gun in the area of 14 Edson Street in Dorchester. While on approach, the officers were advised that the suspect was observed with a firearm while seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that was parked and blocking a driveway near the address above.

On arrival, officers located the suspect motor vehicle and removed the Powell without incident in order to continue their investigation. The suspect was placed in custody a short time later after the officers recovered a SCCY CPX-2 handgun loaded with 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition from inside the vehicle. Officers later learned that the suspect’s driver’s license was inactive.
