At around 2:14 a.m. on Sunday, Boston Fire Department received calls for a partial building collapse on Sumner Street in East Boston. When firefighters arrived they found that the brick facade of the building had come crashing down.
Firefighters were able to rescue the eleven people inside, including two children, from the collapsed building. Luckily, no one inside the building was hurt. The city’s building inspector was called to the scene, and power was cut to the building. It is suspected that the collapse was due to a structural engineering issue.
