Neighborhoods across Boston came together on Monday for National Night Out yesterday.
National Night out is a nationwide event that hopes to get community members familiar with their local law enforcement and representatives. It is also a campaign by the nonprofit National Association of Town Watch to foster positive relationships between the community and law enforcement. The event has not happened in three years dude to Covid-19.
Officers were joined by Mayor Michelle Wu and other city officials in parks across the city for family friendly activities.
On Monday, events took place in Brighton, Hyde Park, Roslindale, Mattapan and Roxbury and on Tuesday gatherings took place in East Boston, Chinatown, the South End, North End, South Boston and Dorchester. All were Block Party based.
Multiple locations had other non profits like; Circle of Hope, the Mildred C. and Hailey Youth Drop-in Center.
Monday hosted an award ceremony for officers in Boston and showcased the falling crime and the role that longevity and knowing the neighborhood plays in combating criminal behavior in the area.
