B-2 Officers Recover Firearm Early Tuesday Morning During Traffic Stop

On August 9th at approximately 02:00 hours, District B-2 police officers made a firearm arrest in the are of Maywood Street and Blue Hill Avenue in Roxbury.

B-2 officers who were on patrol of the area stopped a motor vehicle due to excessively tinted windows. After making contact with the operator, who made serval attempts to hide something under a seat, he was removed from the vehicle.

Officers searched the are of the car the suspect had been trying to hide the object in and discovered a loaded firearm in a fanny pack. The driver, identified as Mishael Barros Correia, 21, of Dorchester, was then placed into custody after it was determined he did not posses a valid LTC or FID card.

Officers recovered a loaded 9mm firearm from the Fanny pack in which contained one round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine. No injuries or incidents were reported during the arrest of incident.

Mishael was placed under arrest on scene and taken for booking. He was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
