Boston Police Officer Struck by Vehicle Early Sunday Morning in Mattapan

On Sunday, August 14th at approximately 2:30 in the morning Boston Police Officers and Boston EMS EMTs rushed to 477 River Street in Mattapan after an Officer working a traffic detail was struck by a motor vehicle. According to the Department, the officer was standing when struck and is expected to survive.

District Detectives as well as the District auto investigator both responded to the scene shortly after the incident to investigate. The driver did remain on scene and no charges have been filed at this time as it remains under investigation.

The officer was transported by Boston EMS to a local area hospital with what are considered serious but non life threatening injuries. The officer did not return to duty as of publication.

The section of the road where the event unfolded was blocked off by yellow police tape while officers investigated. Also pictured within the police tape barriers is a red Honda sedan, which is believed to be the vehicle which struck the officer. No further information is available.
