On Saturday, August 13th at approximately 12:40 hours, the Boston Fire Department received a call for a fire in a multi-family house at 975 Dorchester Avenue.

Box 1842 (Dorchester Ave. at Sudan St.) was quickly struck and Boston Firefighters quickly began to respond. While Companies were responding, Fire Alarm updated them stating that they were “receiving calls” and gave them reports that there were people still in the building on the third floor.

Engine Company 21 arrived first on the scene to be met with fire showing from the third floor of the triple-decker home.
At one point, fire and smoke could be seen pushing out of the eaves of the home, but a quick and aggressive attack performed by Boston’s Bravest from both the interior and exterior of the home prevented flames from spreading any further to other buildings. Engine Co. 17 along with Ladder Co. 4 conducted primary searches of floors two and three that fortunately were found to be negative.

Thankfully no one was hurt from this fire, but 8 people were displaced from their homes. At this moment the cause of the fire is unknown but is being investigated by the Boston Fire Investigation Unit.
