On August 15th at approximately 22:00 hours, Boston Police Officers from District D-4 units responded to a 911 call at Ipswich Street for a suspicous device that the caller stated may be a bomb. In additon to the District Officers, members from the K-9 Unit as well as the Boston Police Bomb Squad also responded.

According to radio transmissions, a city employee issuing parking tickets for illegally parked cars noticed a suspicious package with wires hanging out of it on the side of the road next to a parking meter. After Officers responded, they determined that they could not definitively rule out foul play and requested the EOD technicians to respond.

EOD technicians from the Boston Bomb Squad examined the device, taking all appropriate safety precautions. No arrests in relation to the explosive device have been made as the investigation is still ongoing. It has not been publicly released what the item was, however sources tell us it was NOT an explosive.
