At about 11:02 PM on Saturday July 23, 2022, members of the BPD Youth Violence Strike Force (YVSF) arrested Jovon Milton, 19, of Mattapan, on firearm related charges following a traffic stop in the area of 71 Almont Street in Mattapan. The officers were on patrol when they stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic infraction (Speeding) and equipment violation (Excessive Tint) when their investigation led them to issue an exit order to the operator and the passenger, later identified as the suspect, Milton.

Officers then conducted a frisk of the passenger compartment, leading to the recovery of an unidentified semi-automatic handgun loaded with 18 rounds of ammunition along with a spare magazine. The suspect was immediately placed in custody without incident. The operator was cited for the noted violations and released.

The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device (2 Counts).

This arrest was the fourth firearm arrest made by members of the BPD YVSF in less than 24 hours in their unyielding efforts to help make the communities they serve as safe as possible from gun violence.
