Car Crashes into Green Line Trolley Overnight on Sunday

On August 28, 2022 at approximately 01:15 hours, Boston Fire, Boston EMS, Boston Police from District D-4, as well as MBTA Transit Police, and State Police all responded to a 911 call reporting that a car had crashed into a Green Line trolley at Brigham Circle Station in the area of 675 Huntington Avenue.

When first responders arrived on scene, they discovered a car that had crashed into the side of a stopped Green Line trolley. The operator of the vehicle, as well as the passenger, both fled the scene on foot following the incident. 

While responders were still on scene, the female passenger, who appeared to be impaired, returned to the accident and eventually was transported by Boston EMS to an area hospital for examination. The car contained several open and empty alcohol containers and officers reported a heavy odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The operator of the vehicle was located and apprehended about 45 minutes later. Sources close to the investigation report that the driver appeared to be under the influence at the time of the arrest. At this time no further information has been released to the public as the investigation is still ongoing.
