District D-4 Anti-Crime Unit Makes On Site Firearm Arrest

At about 9:55 PM on Friday, July 29, 2022, Officers assigned to District D4 made an on-site firearm and drug arrest of Jonathan Lopez, 25, of Boston, in the area of Melnea Cass Boulevard and Albany Street.

While on directed patrol, officers were driving on Melnea Cass Boulevard when they observed a vehicle make an unsafe lane change, and accelerate at a speed.  Officers additionally observed the vehicle to have excessive window tint.  Officers conducted a traffic stop and, upon speaking with the operator, identified as Jonathan Lopez, made several observations that led them to believe that Lopez was in possession of a firearm.  Officers requested Lopez exit the vehicle and, on a subsequent frisk of the vehicle, recovered a loaded firearm, a quantity of marijuana, and a quantity of US currency.

The firearm was determined to be a Glock 9mm with one (1) round in the chamber and nine (9) rounds in the magazine.  Officers additionally recovered a separate magazine loaded with five (5) rounds of ammunition.

Jonathan Lopez is arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a loaded firearm, and Distribution of Class D (Marijuana).
