Youth Violence Strike Force Makes On-Site Firearm Arrest

At about 11:31 AM on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, Officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an on-site firearm arrest of Mathewos Solomon, 18, of Charlestown, in the area of 1948 Washington Street in Roxbury.

Officers were on directed patrol in the South End / Lower Roxbury Area when they queried a vehicle through CJIS, and it was revealed that the registration was revoked.  Officers conducted a traffic stop, and after making several observations of the occupants, officers removed the occupants to conduct a pat-frisk for weapons.  As Officers conducted a pat-frisk of Solomon, they recovered a loaded firearm.  Following a brief struggle, Officers were safely able to take Solomon into custody. 

The firearm was determined to be a Beretta handgun loaded with seven (7) .25 CAL rounds of ammunition in the magazine. Mathewos Solomon is to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Carrying a loaded Firearm.
