At about 6:43 PM on Sunday, July 17, 2022, Officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest of Donte Daily, 32, of Taunton. Additionally, Jaquori Lyons, 24, of Roslindale, and Aryana Wilson, 22, of Boston, were arrested for non-firearm-related charges.
Officers were on directed patrol in the area of 260 Highland Street monitoring a basketball tournament at Marcella Park when their attention was drawn to a male, later identified as Daily, walking in the crowd with a fanny pack. Officers made several observations of Daily that led them to believe that Daily was in possession of a firearm. As Officer attempted to speak with Daily, he began to sprint away from the Officer. As Officers began to catch up to Daily, he stopped, removed the fanny pack strapped to his chest, and raised his hands in the air. Daily was able to be taken into custody without further incident. A frisk of the discarded bag revealed a loaded firearm.
While conducting this arrest, another male, identified as Jaquori Lyons, approached officers and demanded a set of keys that were in the possession of Daily. Officers advised Lyons several times to step away, to which he refused, loudly yelling at officers and causing a crowd to be drawn away from the basketball tournament and toward the Officer’s arrest. Lyons was again advised to leave; Lyons refused officers’ commands and pushed an officer. Given Lyons’s behavior, officers determined that he would be placed into custody. Lyons then threw a punch at an officer that missed and then began running away from officers. Following a lengthy foot chase, Lyons was taken into custody following a brief struggle.
While officers were trying to place Lyons into the rear of a Boston Police Cruiser, a female identified as Aryana Wilson stood in between the Boston Police Cruiser and the officers in an attempt to prevent officers from placing Lyons in the cruiser. As Officers attempted to remove Wilson, she pushed and bit an officer. Following a brief struggle, Officers placed Wilson into custody without further incident.
The firearm was determined to be an American Arms 1911 .45 ACP loaded with seven (7) rounds in the magazine. Daily is to be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a loaded firearm, and Armed Career Criminal level II. Lyons and Wilson are to be charged with Disturbing the Peace, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, and Resisting Arrest. All three individuals were arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
