Gang Unit Officers Arrest Two Chelsea Men on Firearm Charges in East Boston

At about 5:03 PM, on Saturday August 6, 2022, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force, arrested Justin Palma, 19, and Andre Cheek, 24, both from Chelsea, MA., on firearm related charges at the intersection of Barnes Avenue and Saratoga Street in East Boston.

Officers were traveling on Boardman Street towards McClellan Highway when they observed a motor vehicle with excessively dark window tint and whose front license plate was obscured by a dark tinted cover, making the license plate unreadable.

Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to conduct the traffic stop. As a result of the traffic stop and after further investigation, officers recovered two firearms from the motor vehicle. Firearm #1 was determined to be a loaded Springfield Armory, USA XD-9 9mm, with thirteen rounds in the magazine. Firearm #2 was determined to be a loaded Springfield Armory USA XD-9 9mm, with fifteen rounds in the magazine. Also recovered was a box of loose ammunition containing thirty-seven rounds.

Justin Palma and Andre Cheek were both placed under arrest and charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possessions of Ammunition. They have both been arraigned in East Boston District Court.
