Boston Police B-3 Anti-Crime Unit Arrest Repeat Firearm Offender in Dorchester

At about 12:11 AM on August 15, 2022, Officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan/Dorchester) made an onsite firearm arrest of Jhesy Rodriguez, 26, of 163 Lawrence Street in Lawrence MA, in the area of 208 Harvard St, Dorchester. Officers received a radio call for a person with a gun in a park on Talbot Avenue.  Officers responded to the area and observed a male matching the provided description driving in a vehicle near Harvard Avenue.  Officers conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle in the area of 208 Harvard Street.

Due to the nature of the 911 call, and Rodriguez matching the provided description, officers requested Rodriguez exit the vehicle.  As Rodriguez exited the vehicle, Rodriguez ran away from officers.  Following a brief foot chase in which officers observed Rodriguez discard an object, Rodriguez was taken into custody, and a loaded firearm was recovered from his flight path.

The firearm was determined to be a Smith & Wesson 9mm, with fifteen (15) rounds in the magazine and one (1) round in the chamber. Rodriguez was arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.  Carrying a loaded firearm, Possession of a Large capacity feeding device, Carrying a loaded firearm (subsequent offense), Resisting arrest.
