Fire in Somerville Damages Vacant Restaurant

On Monday, September 12, 2022, at approximately 17:00 hours, units from the Somerville Fire Department responded to a call reporting a fire in a vacant restaurant on the Medford City line.

First responders arrived at the scene and quickly worked to put out the flames. Witnesses report that the fire was primarily on the building’s ceiling and was tearing through the structure fast.

Eventually, firefighters quelled the flames. According to sources, firefighters are still unsure if the building is salvageable, and the sushi restaurant located next to where the fire started also had some smoke damage.

There were fortunately no injuries reported after this incident. The Somerville Fire Department and State Fire Marshals Office is still investigating the cause of the fire and there have been no charges brought at this time.
