Van Hits Truck and Spills Gallons of Gasoline At Hyde Park Avenue

On Monday, September 26, at approximately 03:30 hours, Boston EMTs and the Boston Fire Department received a call reporting that a van had crashed into a gasoline truck at 1171 Hyde Park Avenue.

Upon arriving, Boston firefighters worked to clear the spill. They put down absorbents to slow the spill and covered sewer drains. According to the Boston Fire Department, the truck was carrying about 11,500 gallons of gas and 50 to 60 gallons spilled onto the street after the crash.

Both the driver and the passenger of the van sustained minor injuries and EMTs loaded them into an ambulance to receive treatment at a local hospital. They are expected to fully recover.

After the spill was cleared, the Boston Water Department arrived at the scene to assess any damage done to the drains in the area. The Boston Fire Department tweeted that those traveling to work in the morning should avoid Hyde Park Avenue all together.
