On Thursday, September 29, 2022, at approximately 17:25 hours, Boston EMTs and Boston Police officers assigned to District D-4 responded to a 911 call reporting that a biker was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street on Massachusetts Avenue.
When they arrived on the scene, EMTs quickly located the victim involved. He had sustained serious injuries in the accident, and they quickly loaded him onto an ambulance to receive treatment at an area hospital. His current condition is unknown.
Police immediately began canvassing the area for evidence. Witnesses say that safety has frequently been an issue at this specific intersection, and many Boston residents plea with the city to consider the safety of pedestrians and bikers.
While Boston does have designated bike lanes throughout the city, there can often be parked cars and other obstructions that make the bike lanes unsafe. Many Boston residents call for upgrading the street’s bike lanes, and Boston streets in general as many have been seriously injured due to car accidents as of late.
