On Friday, October 7, 2022, Boston Police officers assigned to District D-4 responded to a 911 call reporting a large-scale fight that had broken out at the Carter Playground. Police presence was in the area to patrol a local football game.

When D-4 officers arrived on the scene, they saw a group of juveniles gathering on the tennis courts nearby. As officers approached, they noticed a fight break out between some of the juveniles, and multiple other people watching.

Officers were able to identify one 16-year-old juvenile laying on the ground. After not cooperating with police, the juvenile fled into the crowd after the group of people surrounding the fight dispersed. D-4 officers called for city-wide backup to come to the scene to attempt to quell the unruly crowd.

The other person involved in the fight, who was resisting arrest when police arrived, struck a police officer and attempted to flee the scene. Officers eventually placed her under arrest with multiple charges. The officer involved sustained minor injuries and EMTs took him in an ambulance to a local hospital.

Officers were able to calm the crowd in the area and made multiple arrests in accordance with the incident: a 16-year-old juvenile male charged with affray, two 17-year-old juvenile males charged with disorderly conduct, two 15-year-old juvenile females charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, a 15-year-old juvenile male charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, and CHIQUELA HOWARD, 37, of Weymouth, Massachusetts, charged with disorderly conduct, assault and battery, assault and battery of a police officer, and resisting arrest.
