Firefighters Rescue 5 people from 2-Alarm Fire in Mattapan

On Friday, October 21, 2022, at approximately 03:00 hours, Boston EMTs, Boston Firefighters, and Boston Police officers assigned to District B-3 responded to multiple calls for a structure fire at 9 Brookview Street in Mattapan. There were reports of possibly multiple people inside.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a heavy fire that caused a second alarm to be struck. They immediately began trying to knock down the flames. The fire appeared to have started on the front porches and quickly made its way up to the rest of the building.

Inside, on the second floor, there were multiple adults and children who were trapped. Firefighters set up a ground ladder and ended up rescuing four adults and one child from the building. Additionally, a cat was saved inside the building. All of them had minor injuries and EMTs treated them with oxygen before were transported to a local hospital.

In the early hours of the morning, after over an hour, firefighters quelled the flames. Deputy Chief Scott Malone praised the firefighter’s work, saying they did a great job rescuing the residents of the building and making sure everyone was safe. The Boston Fire Department tweeted that the 5 people who were displaced will be helped by Massachusetts Red Cross to find housing.
