On Sunday, October 30, 2022, at approximately 16:50 hours, Boston Police officers assigned to District E-18 and Boston firefighters responded to a 911 call reporting that a vehicle struck the front of a barbershop in Hyde Park. The driver fled before police arrived.
When first responders arrived, they noted that the vehicle had crashed into the storefront as well as the front yard of a nearby home. The car was sitting atop the brick exterior wall of the home with its doors open and lights on. The crash caused the brick-lined front of the building to partially collapse resulting in tens of thousands of dollars in damage. Police immediately began canvasing for witnesses and signs of the perpetrators.
Sources on scene say that there were people inside the barbershop at the time of the accident, and employees of the shop state that the car seemingly came out of nowhere. Luckily, no one was injured as a result of the crash. Police requested the K-9 Unit to try to track down the driver and passengers of the SUV, however, none have been located.
