Boston Firefighters BAttle 2 alarm fire on Woodrow Ave

On Monday, November 7, 2022, at approximately 20:20 hours, Boston Firefighters, Boston EMS, and Boston Police all responded to multiple calls reporting a structure fire at 108 Woodrow Avenue in Dorchester. The calls all reported heavy flames engulfing the building.

The fire began in the basement of the occupied building and quickly spread to the second floor, ordering a second alarm. Additional companies arrived at the scene to assist in knocking down the flames. Firefighters worked efficiently with a high-power hose, starting in the back of the building where the fire was at its heaviest and working their way around.

Eventually, firefighters were able to knock down the flames before any residents were injured. Responders then worked to clear the debris in the area. Although there were no injuries to report, two adults and one child were displaced by the fire. Fortunately, the Massachusetts Red Cross will help them find temporary housing.

The damage costs are estimated to be $300,000, with additional exposure damage to surrounding buildings in the area. The cause of the fire is currently unknown and is still being investigated by the BFD Fire Investigation Unit.
