BREAKING: Infant or Fetal Remains Possibly Found in South Boston Freezer Thursday

Shortly after 14:00 hours on Tuesday, Boston police officers responded to 838 East Broadway, Apartment 3 in South Boston for a 911 caller who reported that they had found at least one dead baby, possibly a fetus frozen in the freezer of the unit.

What officers at first assumed was a prank call or EDP, soon became a tragic reality. On arrival Officer confirmed that the 911 caller was correct and had in-fact located the remains of either a young baby or unborn child. At this time sources say it is unclear the age due to the remains conditions pending a full review by the Medical Examiner.

Due to the unknown nature of how the remains ended up in the freezer, Boston Police Homicide Detectives, investigator from the Crime Scene Response Unit, members of the command staff, and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office all responded to the scene. Staff from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner could also be seen carrying what sources tell us was a box filled with the remains.

Sources close to the investigation that we spoke with told us that the initial reports of “multiple dead children” that had circulated online groups, social media and message broads was “completely inappropriate and factually inaccurate” and “reckless”. Police say at this time there is nothing to back up that rumor. If anything they said these remains are of multiple infants or fetuses.

The Boston Police Department is actively reviewing the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is strongly urged to contact Boston Police Homicide Detectives at (617) 343-4470.
